In late December The Green Grind Organic Coffee & Tea Co. opened their doors to business, across the way from Bellevue Downtown Park.

Their mission is simple, “Partner with people and companies who are taking action to protect our environment as well as the economic viability of the communities in which they live and operate,” states a quote from local owner Scott Morris.
The intimate shop is committed to serving “fairly traded, environmentally sustainable, and socially responsible USDA certified organic products.” Their coffees and teas are from as far away as the other side of the world, but you’ll also be able to find products from Washington State there as well.
Tea and coffee can be purchased online and at their new Downtown Bellevue shop. The Green Grind offers a unique spin on the crowded Downtown Bellevue coffee and tea business. Support this local business, and stop by next time you’re in the neighborhood!

  1. Nice to have a coffee shop next to the park. I usually went to the Starbucks inside Safeway when I wanted a cup of coffee while strolling in the park. This one is closer.

  2. I hope they last longer then the last few shops here…

  3. You have to admit they have some cojones for trying to hoist all this “sustainable”, “fair-trade” eco-garbage pablum with the current economic and retail environment. LOL Unfortunately cojones will probably give then 6 months before they go under. Wake up, disposable income is becoming virtually non existant, nobody is going to shell out $5 anymore for a cup of coffee or tea with phony eco social overtones.

  4. It is actually not as expensive as you think, much less than Starbucks. I really enjoyed their blueberry cheesecake tea. It is never easy to start a good business. I hope people will give them a chance.

  5. Great shop. High quality tea and the prices are good. They are actually less than I expected considering the products are organic. Sounds like they are opening a second location at The Redmond Town Center in a couple of months. Good luck…

  6. I just left The Green Grind and Scott mentioned this article. I am sipping my cup of delicious Rooibos as I write. I wanted to lend a quick note in support since I am in favor of people who have the “cojones” to keep their faith in the American economy during tough times. Would seem these folks have chosen to keep the machine moving rather sit on the sideline and profess that the sky is falling.

I am impressed with the knowledge, service, and quality they offer. I stop in a few times a week and enjoy the conversation.

I am not a big follower of eco-friendly trends but it is refreshing to see businesses try and raise the bar a bit.

I will continue to support them. By the way, my tea was about 2 bucks…Best of luck guys!! M.

  7. A friend received four bags for Christmas and brought it to the office – it was awesome. I just went to their web site to order some for home – and it no longer exists! Did they go under already?
