Joey Bellevue recently renovated the interior of its restaurant and lounge with all sustainable materials, including already-fallen wood, to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

The décor combines modern elements with vintage accents. Changes include the tile entry and wood flooring, free-standing columns wrapped in fir planking, and a communal table carved from a slab of North American Hickory; a wall treatment of old salvaged brick has been whitewashed with an antique finish.

Walnut booth surrounds and Canadian Maple tabletops enhance the warm atmosphere, while black leather wraps around both chair and booth seating, adding a modern balance. Targeted spot-lighting illuminates each table.

There is now a 2nd bar with a plasma television located in the back of the restaurant. Anybody that has visited Joey Bellevue knows that the lounge is a popular place 7 days a week.  Creating an extension of the lounge in the restaurant portion of the space will allow for more people to join Joey Bellevue for a more casual setting.

Joey Bellevue, which features a globally-inspired menu, is open from 11 AM to 2 AM daily. The restaurant is located in Bellevue Place, at 800 Bellevue Way NE. Call (425) 637-1177 for more information.

  1. Why did they change the name?

  2. So let me get this straight: they replaced the previous interior so that they could go to “all sustainable materials”?

    Right.

  3. @Sam: My thoughts exactly. If the point was being “ecologically conscious”, then keeping the old interior would have been the best solution.

  4. But it’s about appearing “Green” not actually being that way!

  5. It looked better before. WTF!

  6. Check it out in person, I think you’ll see it comes together.

My belief is that they did this because they wanted to expand the bar/lounge area to the restaurant area.

  7. It certainly does look nice. However, it has gone from being a great restaurant with a comfortable dining area in the back and a fun lounge in the front to a double lounge area where those who want to savour their dining experience are shoved to the side in tiny restaurant area that now seats only about 1/4 of the original number. And boy is it now noisy!

  8. To the cynics above, Joey is this type of restaurant that they need to revamp once a while to keep it chic or hip-looking.

I think it’s great that they go to the sustainable route.

  9. I was not aware that there was a type of restaurant that needs to revamp every so often. Kind of a bizarre concept, actually. Why not just design something great & timeless from the beginning?

  10. What a bunch of complainers. It’s a nice place and looks good. C’mon.

  11. @Nathan

If you are so brilliant, can you create a restaurant that is timeless?

Restaurant is a tough business, people expect to have a good time there, and they need to provide that. In case you haven’t realized, people 10 years ago have a different opinion about what’s hip from what we think now.

I guess all I am saying is give them a break. If you don’t like it, you can go back to eat at your 1980s theme restaurant.

  12. Now if they could only train the servers how to do their job…

  13. Red Robin or bust.

  14. There happy hour is a joke. I thought the new lounge in back was kinda cool though.
