Downtown Bellevue Aims to Raise Awareness of Proposed Performing Arts Center
Despite a lack of funds, Bellevue hasn’t given up on building its own performing arts center.

The Tateuchi Center, a 2,000-seat theatre, is planned for downtown Bellevue, at the corner of 106th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 10th Street, next to the Hyatt Regency Bellevue.

In May, the City of Bellevue formalized a partnership with the Performing Arts Center Eastside to raise awareness and funds for the Tateuchi Center.

About $65 million has been raised for the center, but another $115 million is still needed. Public financing decisions by the Bellevue City Council will likely have to wait until next spring, according to an article in The Seattle Times.

In the meantime, community forums will be held to raise awareness of the proposed performing arts center. City officials have said that if the theater is publicly financed, it will need to be available for public events and offer affordable entertainment options.
