According to an article on our partner site The Seattle Times, the QFC in Downtown Bellevue will be expanding. The project is slated for a $7.2 million remodel and expansion. The store is planned to add 6,000 square feet, making the store 64,000 in total.
According to the article the Downtown Bellevue QFC store is one of the highest grossing stores within the chain.
Bids for the project remodel will go out at the end of October, but there is not currently a timeline for completion.

They should build a new, urban style store like Safeway did and sell their current store to Kemper. It’s across the street from Bel Square so I’m sure they’d be interested in acquiring that property.
Are they removing the Bartells and Mr J’s to expand, or will those still be there?
The “new, urban” (aka cheap) style of the Safeway really sucks compared to this QFC, which has a warm wood deco. Hopefully they won’t dramatically change it.
Damn. I go to that QFC at least twice a week, and I never even noticed the wood deco. 🙂
