Downtown Bellevue added more rental towers in the last decade than in the forty years before it. The result is a renter’s market with a real range: mid-rise blocks on the numbered avenues, high-rises with sky lounges on 106th and 108th, and podium buildings on Main Street with restaurants downstairs. Most of them sit inside a ten-block walk of Bellevue Square and Bellevue Downtown Station, which is the whole point of living here.
Each profile covers the same ground: how many homes and what mix, when it opened and who built it, the amenities the building actually publishes, how parking and pets work, the walk to light rail and the Collection, and a dated timeline of DBN’s coverage — several of these towers we covered from the permit hearing on. We do not publish rents; they change weekly and belong on each building’s own leasing page, which every profile links.

AvalonBay’s 2008 mid-rise over the downtown Safeway, kitty-corner from Bellevue Square: 368 homes, studios to three-bedrooms.
Venn at Main
The block that was Cupcake Royale, now 353 homes over West Elm and Dough Zone, with Downtown Park across the street. Opened 2016.
Sylva on Main
John Su’s original 2011 “Soma” — not the towers — a 74-home mid-rise with townhomes and geothermal wells.
Courtyard Off Main
Vander Hoek’s 1998 courtyard building half a block south of Main: 110 homes, one- to three-bedrooms, run by Essex.
The Core: Bellevue Way to 108th
High-rises and mid-rises within a few blocks of Bellevue Square and Bellevue Downtown Station.
888 Bellevue
CD Heritage’s Hewitt-designed tower next to the U.S. Bank building: 158 homes on 18 floors, opened 2020, with a rooftop level on top.
The Ashton
Hanover’s 20-story tower, leasing since 2009 and run by UDR today: 202 homes from one-bedrooms to lofts and penthouses.
Soma Towers
Two towers with a restaurant podium at the south end of 106th: 273 homes, opened 2014 and 2016, a short walk to Old Main.
Avalon Towers Bellevue
Two towers of 13 and 23 stories, 396 homes, a green roof and a rooftop clubhouse, with Black Bottle on the corner. Opened 2010.
Belcarra
A six-story, 296-home block from 2010 with a two-story gym, a dog park and shops on 106th, next door to The Ashton.
The East Edge: 110th to I-405
Around The Bravern, the library and East Main Station — the downtown blocks closest to the freeway and the 2 Line.
The Bravern
Built as condos, leased since 2010: 455 homes in two towers over The Shops at The Bravern — the largest rental address downtown.
Elements Apartments
UDR’s three-building community: the 2006 tower at 989 and the two Elements Too buildings from 2009, about 440 homes in all.
Alley 111
Skanska’s 12-story, 260-home building across NE 8th from The Bravern, with a rooftop lounge and an omakase counter downstairs. 2015.
Broadstone Savoie
Downtown’s newest rental: 190 homes opened in 2024, a rooftop patio facing Rainier, and East Main Station across the street.
Avalon Bellevue
The first and smallest of the three Avalons: 201 homes on four stories since 2001, around the corner from the library.
City Square Bellevue
Four low-rise buildings from 1998 over a garage, 191 homes, with Andiamo and Chutneys downstairs, kitty-corner from the library.
Ellington at Bellevue
A 220-home courtyard community from 1993, known as Avalon Bellevue Park until Essex bought it in 2014.
