One of China’s biggest construction companies plans to open an office in Bellevue, following an agreement signed in Beijing this week by Bellevue’s mayor and the company’s chairman.

Washington state representatives, including Bellevue Mayor Conrad Lee, are currently conducting a state trade mission in Asia.

As a result of the agreement — a memorandum of understanding — between Bellevue and Beijing Construction and Engineering Group International, the company will look into opening a Bellevue office.

Bellevue and the Chaoyang District of Beijing also signed a memorandum of understanding to assist with cross-border investments in technology, media, and telecommunications. The agreement promotes technology innovation in both cities and could lead to Chaoyang opening a small office in Bellevue, according to a press statement.
