Last summer, Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar and John Howie Steak introduced new prix-fixe dinner menus that became instantly popular with guests. This week, both restaurants refreshed and expanded these three-course offerings, which include a starter, entrée and dessert, to include signature classics and seasonal favorites.

The Welcome Back menus, available Sunday through Thursday, is a win for diners – who enjoy a complete meal for $42 at Seastar and $65 at John Howie Steak – and also helps the restaurant by keeping staff busy during less crowded weeknight dining times.

At Seastar, the Tastes portion of the menu features 10 items to choose from, including all-time classics, popular raw bar starters and even guest-favorite clam chowder that is exclusively available on the prix-fixe menu.

“Our Seastear guests tell me the variety on this menu makes it difficult to choose, and I understand because I have the same struggle!” said Chef Howie. “However, if I had to order right now, I would start with one of my all-time favorites, the hot-n-sour Thai shrimp soup, followed by the pan roasted herb chicken breast. I love the zucchini pappardelle noodles that come with this entrée. They are thin and wide, lightly blanched and tossed in a butter sauce with our special seasoning. For dessert, I love the passion fruit panna cotta with tropical fruit. I think it’s the perfect way to finish a special meal.”

The full Seastar Welcome Back prix-fixe menu is $42 (plus tax) includes one starter (kale salad, clam chowder, hot-n-sour Thai shrimp soup, pan seared kalbi pork tenderloin, spicy ahi tuna roll, vegetable roll, thai chicken, Taylor Shellfish Pacific oysters (3), spicy salmon-jalapeno roll or Caesar salad), an entrée (fire-grilled silver salmon with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, parmigiano-reggiano crusted petrale sole with Yukon Gold mash and haricot verts, pan roasted herb chicken breast with zucchini ribbons and a crispy-cheesy risotto cake or Chef Howie’s famous vegan zucchini linguini with tomato, Kalamata olive, artichoke hearts, sweet basil and pine nuts) and dessert (vanilla crème brulee, flourless chocolate cake with crème anglaise, Olympic mountain ice cream or sorbet, white chocolate coconut cream pie or passion fruit panna cotta with tropical fruit). Full menu can be viewed online at www.seastarrestaurant.com.

“John Howie Steak guests tell me they love the Welcome Back menu because it features many of our signature items at a tremendous value.” commented Chef Howie. “Right now I am enjoying the freshness of the watermelon salad, it tastes like summer on a plate. I also recommend our baseball cut top sirloin because of the amazing mineral smoke flavor infused into the meat that comes from spending time on our mesquite grill. This is also a very juicy and good size cut of meat – perfect for a big guy like me – and the asparagus and potatoes perfectly compliment this entrée. For dessert, you can’t beat our famous chocolate ganache tart. The buttery crust and gooey caramel are deliciously finished with thick ganache and sea salt – it is heavenly!”

The full John Howie Steak Welcome Back pre-fixe menu is $65 (plus tax) and includes one starter (French onion soup, Caesar salad, watermelon, aged feta and pistachio salad or lobster bisque), an entrée (roasted Jidori chicken Oscar with Dungeness crab legs, potato cake and asparagus, USDA Prime top sirloin, Alaskan King salmon or USDA Prime filet mignon), and dessert (salted caramel & chocolate ganache tart, cheesecake with huckleberry reduction or vanilla crème brûlèe). Additionally, brown butter asparagus spears and Yukon Gold potato puree are included with steaks and salmon entrees. Full menu can be viewed online at: www.johnhowiesteak.com.

The John Howie Steak and Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar Welcome Back prix-fixe menus are available during regular dining hours Sunday through Thursday only. Tax and gratuity is not included and a 20 percent service charge is included on each check. Substitutions are not available. For those more comfortable dining at home, both menus are available for curbside pick up for an additional charge.
