A trip to Washington Square brought to my attention a “Washington Square Car”. The car is a Cadillac DTS, with decals on the sides and back of the car with Washington Square logos.
The second I saw this, I immediately chuckled. Folks, this is Downtown Bellevue not New York City. This is not a ritzy city, but a ultra high luxury city. Last time I checked, people have a fairly easy time getting around downtown area, and don’t need chauffeurs (yet). The car I’m sure is intended to shuttle around prospective guests, and give tours of the city.
If Bellevue were a car, it would surely not be a Cadillac. Bellevue aligns more with the likes of a Lexus. Bellevue is smart and sophisticated, and a Cadillac is simple and ordinary. Clientèle interested in living in a vibrant, up and coming, technology driven region in condos such as Washington Square aren’t impressed being driven around in a town car, especially a Cadillac.
A Cadillac is curious, but maybe the nearby Caddy dealer gave them a deal.
Why they even need a car I don’t know, they must have needed a tax right off.
Cadillac is a brand that is making a bit of a comeback and was always popular with an older clientele. I associate Bellevue with Cadillacs. If you asked me to associate a city with a Lexus – I’d probably say Redmond.
I really don’t associate Cadillac with Bellevue either because they’ve always felt ‘old’, despite the Escalades and other new models, and Bellevue is definitely not old. Lincoln, although a bit ‘old’ to me as well, seems a more standard choice to go with for shuttling prospective guests (I see a lot outside our office), though maybe they don’t want ‘standard’ eh?
Not sure if I’d choose Lexus myself but it does have a more nouveau riche feel to it that corresponds better with Bellevue, I think. Maybe BMW, as they always seem to be integrating cutting edge technology in their cars.
For the record…Cadillac makes a good car, I’m not ripping on the car.
I just find the whole town car concept for Washington Square an interesting topic to discuss.
And yes, I bet your right, the Caddy dealership is a block away, I bet they got a good deal on it 🙂
I ask you guys…If Bellevue was a car, what brand would it be???
Whatever make the car is, it’s for sure an SUV! 🙂
And I think we are referring to West Bellevue, right?
if Bellevue were a car it’d be a Bentley Continental GT…if these luxury living concepts want to truly set a long term trend, think Big or go home! i mean there are going to be a few different luxury residences around town right? they’re going to have to to figure out how to differentiate themselves from one another..
WWKD?
If Bellevue were a car… It’d have to be a BMW 7 Series. Elegant, Technologically Sound, Smart, Sleek, Fashionable, and the fact that it is a 7 series exclaims that it knows that it’s all of the above. Something about the 7 series conveys a quiet confidence (borderline quiet cockiness if there is such a thing). If you know about it… then you know it’s amazing. If you don’t then who cares.
