‘Leave Your Car at Home’
Dispatch #5
We may not have a light rail system in Bellevue yet, but we do have one of the best bus transportation systems in the country. One of the largest funnels of transportation through this region, for Metro and Sound Transit buses, is about 24 different routes that go through the Bellevue Transit Center in Downtown Bellevue. For those of you who aren’t familiar, the Transit Center it is located at 10850 NE 6th St.
Some of the most convenient and popular routes from the Bellevue Transit center are the following:
Routes
271/272 – University of Washington
550 – Downtown Seattle
230 – Redmond / Microsoft
240 – Renton / Boeing
560 – Sea-Tac Airport
For the last month that I’ve been traveling without a car, I’ve had minimal use of the bus because so much of my time is spent in and around the Eastside. The times I have used the bus were when I went into Seattle. The bus routes, depending on what day and time you are looking at, tend to run anywhere from every 30 minutes to every hour so it’s best to plan ahead if you’re on any type of schedule. If you are working in Seattle, or working in Bellevue and have a direct shot from one of the bus pickups or the Transit Center, the bus can be a flawless experience! The only time it can become a bit of a hassle is when you have to transfer buses and you have a layover.

just wanted to complain about the 230:
If I leave now it will take 46 minutes to get to the REI at Redmond town center. It takes 12 to drive.
The 271 and 550 are great, but the rest are milk runs that take way to long to get anywhere.
