ztejas-bellevue-chile-festival-winnerThe Bellevue Z’Tejas Southwest Grill held its second annual open contest for community members to submit recipes for the Z’Tejas Chile Fest Dessert Contest.  This year’s winning recipe for the Bellevue restaurant was Blueberry Chipotle Shortcakes, created by Denise LaCaille of Kirkland.  As the winner, her dessert will be featured in the special Chile Fest Menu, September 8-27, 2009, with a portion of the sales benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The desserts were narrowed down to the top 3 and then 3 tasting judges (Carol Dearth – Chef from Sizzleworks Cooking School in Bellevue, Viki Ryan – Owner of RyanWenzel Events, and myself – Founder of the Downtown Bellevue Network) made the difficult decision to choose a winner.

Beginning September 8th, Z’Tejas will be offering a special menu and variety of events that pay tribute to the company’s history of celebrating the chile for the last 33 years.
