Amazon Grill Grand Opening

‘Amazon Grill’ opened just opened just under a month ago at 112th Ave NE in Downtown Bellevue. The newly opened restaurant specializes in traditional food from the Amazon River regions of Peru and Brazil. Amazon Grill’s favorites include Cebiches, Rodízio, and Causas. Many of the dishes are made with beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and seafood, as well as exotic vegetables.

Amazon Grill offers lunch daily from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, dinner daily from 5:00 PM – 10:00PM, and serves happy hour Monday – Friday 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM and 9PM – close.

The location was previously occupied by ‘Coco’s Family Restaurant’ and has since been vacant for several years.

  1. Again. PR article. It’d be great if you had eaten there first, maybe make some recommendations. “Many of the dishes are made with beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and seafood…” doesn’t really set them apart from anybody else that serves….meat. Are they a chain or local?

I mean this is the best way. I’ve seen some criticism here lately about articles being strictly PR and I hope this finds the right pair of eyes.

  2. Why is there so much hate in postings about restaurants opening up?

If you don’t like the blog…don’t read it…start your own blog…do we really need or want to hear other peoples negative opinion on how information is posted in a personal blog?

The blog is called “downtownbellevue.com” NOT “thetasteofdowntownbellevue.com” The Blog is meant to promote the downtown area.

“Helpful” is yet another person drunk off the haterade!!!

  3. I totally agree with Sam. This blog is suppose to inform us of store/restaurant openings or construction projects. I am so happy this blog exists and I wanted to thank Michael Brandt for making this possible. Downtown Bellevue is exploding with economic growth and it is great to get this kind of information/rumors before the media announces them.

  4. @Helpful

The post does not take a positive or negative stance, so I’m not sure how you would consider this a “PR Article.”

Our goal is to communicate the facts first and foremost, which is what we did in the posting. From there readers can formulate their own opinions. (We are Downtown Bellevue experts, not food experts!)

I also feel like it’s important to point out that there was not any PR effort from the restaurant to help and get this article posted. In fact we’ve had no communication with them at all. (Having said that there shouldn’t be an issue if they had – we need the help of PR to get information in a timely & accurate fashion)

Please let us know if you end up trying the restaurant we would love to hear how it is!

  5. This blog covers news about the downtown Bellevue area. I am one of those happy to hear about restaurant and store openings whether they are a PR article or not.

  6. Thanks for the news Michael, I’ll be trying this place out soon.

  7. Like I said, which obviously went unnoticed, it was meant in the best way. After reading quite a few recent post comments from residents it’s apparent their concerns haven’t been addressed. I’m more than happy to see news articles or teasers of what’s being built in the area and I welcome blog posts about happenings. That being said, adding just a little bit more info that I had suggested into the post would negate any concerns. I’m sure many readers would also have enjoyed the post more if a review of their food was involved, PR or not.

The local sushi offerings series was onto the right path there for a while and hit on this concept.

  8. Little late to the party. @Helpful, I agree w/ your sentiment. @Sam, disagree w/ your hysterics about someone offering anything but boring, glowing “hey, great, thanks for the post, I like this. yeah”. If one offers constructive or even “negative” comments, it’s not “hate”. Settle down. I think everyone agrees — its a well designed site and it does ‘inform’ of new things happening. With that said, it’s largely boring w/ very personality. @ Michael is a nice guy, and he’s smarter than me and a lot of people, so he can design such a nice site. And I support him! With that said, it would be nice to get some more personality. I dare say, and I’m speculating, but he may not want to “rock the boat” because I believe he collects some sort of ad revenue from various businesses on here, which is great. I think he would get more revenue if there was more umph to the posts.

For example: all facebook posts by this blog are pretty matter of fact EXCEPT one: the following was posted:

“Only in Bellevue would you see a 20 something year old girl wearing a $200 pair of jeans while begging for money on w/a cardboard sign.”

Now that’s funny! And people responded. He got 9 comments. Not huge numbers, but it’s about 300% more than his usual 2 or 3 comments at most.

I wish this blog luck and will continue to read it. But I think you’d get a lot more viewers and people like me coming back to the site more often than I do if there was more…you know, personality!

  9. @Gosh You are right, we do tend to focus on the facts – and that is purposeful. There are so many facts to share that we can hardly get to them all.

I appreciate your comments! Keep them coming.

  10. We went there yesterday (it was Peru’s Independence Day, and we figured it was a good enough reason). The food was fantastic. We picked from the special, one day only, Peruvian menu, rather than have the rodizio. We’ll have to go back for that though!

  11. RIP Amazon Grill (2011-2012).

  12. @Jonka: Well crap. I still had a coupon for that place. I was hoping to go there for Fiestas Patrias peruanas. Oh well… Refund!
