Unless you were ignoring the news media on Monday, you should know that Amazon is planning to test retail stores in the Seattle area. What better place than Downtown Bellevue to put their 1st test store.
Here are the reasons that we think Amazon should choose Downtown Bellevue:
- Familiarity – The 1st Amazon Fresh location was in Downtown Bellevue, so Amazon is familiar with this area and already has experience with a retail location here.
- Tech Companies – Bellevue has a great breadth of large technology companies, such as Microsoft, Expedia, T-Mobile, Verizon, and more. Employees from these companies would be more likely to be interested in what Amazon stores would sell.
- Free parking – Need we say more?
- Educated Residents – 60% of Bellevue’s residents have a bachelor’s degree or higher. Amazon’s most popular device, the Amazon Kindle, is largely utilized for reading. This device and other products are popular to a large array of the people, but those that read a lot are likely to be the more educated.
Where would you like to see an Amazon Store in Downtown Bellevue? Bellevue Square, The Bravern, a strip mall, the base of an apartment or condo building?
Although details on the store(s) haven’t been released, we look forward to the developing details.

One more reason to open a store here: that’s where I live! Come on Amazon… don’t let me down!
I’d like to see it take up some empty retail space at the bottom of an apartment building!
Next to Black Bottle in the empty retail spot!
Free parking as a reason? Um, ok.
I’d like to see one in Bellevue Square, though I’d be shocked if downtown Seattle wasn’t first on Amazon’s list.
When is the Post Office moving out of that building? That building with a bit of a facelift would be a nice spot. Or even the old liquor store building which is still vacant.
Bellevue would benefit and it would be great for a first!
