Bellevue citizens gearing up for New Year’s celebrations can expect heightened police presence as the Bellevue Police Department initiates additional DUI emphasis patrols across the city. The aim is to safeguard the lives of travelers during the holiday weekend.
The West part of Bellevue has witnessed 133 arrests of suspected DUI drivers this year alone, prompting law enforcement to step up. Driving under the influence of alcohol poses severe risks not only to the drivers, but also to their passengers and citizens on the road, emphasizing the potential for fatal consequences.
“While we encourage citizens to revel in welcoming the New Year, our primary concern remains preventing impaired driving,” stated a Bellevue PD spokesperson. “Planning ahead by utilizing ride-sharing services or assigning a designated driver is pivotal in ensuring a safe return home.”
Individuals are urged to prioritize safety and responsible decision-making. As the countdown to the New Year begins, the Bellevue PD extends their wishes for a Safe and Happy New Year, emphasizing the importance of ensuring everyone’s safety on the roads.
