Bellevue City Hall Displays Light Rail Art for Link 2 Opening

The first segment of the Link 2 Line on the Eastside opens on Saturday, April 27th. In celebration of this, the City of Bellevue is displaying art from Sound Transit at City Hall that showcases the building of the agency’s Link lines 1 and 2.

City Hall is open during business hours and the display will be located on the second floor through the fall. The art exhibit, “Modeling Motion & Link in Process” highlights the complexity of building a modern transit system.

City Hall will also be open on Saturday, April 27th from 10am to 4pm for the opening of the 2 Line. The community is invited to view the exhibit during the opening activities.

Photographs are displayed alongside models and work samples of artwork built into Sound Transit stations.

The 2 Line opening celebration includes a full day of activities including a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local and regional leaders at the Downtown Bellevue station at 10am. The first trains will be available to ride at each station at approximately 11am.

Attendees will experience many different activities, from a bouncy house, food trucks, bike helmet giveaways, live music, and fire trucks, to a live and interactive mural painting.

There will be limited parking downtown, so taking public transit to the event is encouraged. King County Metro will offer shuttle service from the South Bellevue Station parking garage to Downtown Bellevue station between 8:30 – 11:00 am.
