According to a press release, The Watermark at Bellevue has opened its new Independent Living tower, which is now open to new residents. It joins the existing Assisted Living and Memory Care accommodations, offering a comprehensive range of care options tailored to seniors’ needs.

Adjacent to the Independent Living tower, Broadstone Savoie, a luxury multifamily building, has also opened its doors, welcoming residents of all ages. This development signifies Bellevue’s first intergenerational residential community, complete with a public-facing bistro, luxurious amenities, and social spaces designed to foster cross-generational relationships among residents.

“Expanding The Watermark at Bellevue provides a unique opportunity for individuals of all ages to thrive,” said David Freshwater, Chairman of Watermark Retirement Communities. “This campus allows us to give seniors the personalized care they need as they age, and for families to live side-by-side if they wish, learning and growing from each other. This campus redefines what senior living looks like.”

Spanning an entire city block, the expanded Watermark at Bellevue features a 22-story Independent Living tower offering 155 units with studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. Complementing this, Broadstone Savoie offers 190 units, including studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom apartments, and townhomes. The campus also includes multiple dining venues, wellness facilities, and dedicated activity spaces, complete with panoramic views of Mount Rainier and the Cascades.

This collaborative project between Alliance Residential Company, a developer in rental residential real estate, and Watermark Retirement Communities, known for managing over 70 senior housing communities nationwide, represents a significant advancement in senior living.

“This partnership with Watermark Retirement Communities represents a major step forward in senior living – creating communities that marry the care that seniors need as they age with a lifestyle that allows all generations to learn from one another,” said Dale Boyles, managing director senior housing of Alliance Residential Company. “We hope that The Watermark at Bellevue and Broadstone Savoie can be a model for forthcoming intergenerational communities.”

Enhanced Living Experience

The Independent Living tower boasts a fitness center equipped with many amenities and offers a diverse schedule of fitness classes led by trained instructors. Residents can also enjoy an on-site salon, which provides hair, nail, and barber services, and an outdoor plaza.

Watermark at Bellevue enhances its Watermark University program with the introduction of the Independent Living tower, offering a large calendar of classes conducted by residents, staff, and local experts. From cooking workshops led by the community’s executive chef to language lessons taught by bilingual neighbors, residents have ample opportunities to get involved.

The community also introduces EngageVR, a virtual reality program designed to enable seniors to explore the world from within the community. There are also expanded lounge and library areas within the Independent Living building.

Adjacent at Broadstone Savoie, residents can enjoy amenities such as a communal co-working space, a rooftop lounge with BBQ facilities, a fitness center, yoga studio, bike storage, and a pet wash room.

Personalized Care and Support

Residents of The Watermark at Bellevue’s Independent Living tower benefit from personalized care services, including a 24-hour concierge for assistance with reservations and programming inquiries. A dedicated technology concierge is also available to address residents’ technological needs. The community provides transportation services, housekeeping, and comprehensive grounds maintenance. Personalized move-in coordination is also offered.

The newly opened Independent Living tower introduces additional dining options, including Evergreen Point Bistro, serving lunch and dinner to both residents and the public. This venue offers seating for 53 guests and features a monthly rotating menu of sandwiches, salads, soups, complemented by a selection of beers and wines.

Another on-site dining option, North of Main, is a casual café offering locally sourced coffee and freshly baked pastries prepared by Watermark at Bellevue’s culinary team.

The Independent Living tower showcases expansive windows framing scenic views of the Pacific Northwest, including Lake Washington, downtown Bellevue, and the mountains. The architecture, crafted by award-winning firm RD Jones Interior Design & Architecture, blends modern aesthetics with functionality.
