Aerial Shot of Bellevue Downtown Park and Bellevue

The Bellevue Police Department is urging residents to stay vigilant following a robbery in downtown Bellevue that left a 72-year-old woman injured.

Bellevue Police responded to a robbery around 3:50 p.m. on January 10 near the 100 block of 108th Avenue NE. According to officers, the victim, a 72-year-old woman, had just finished shopping and was getting into her car when a man grabbed her purse. After a brief struggle, he managed to take the purse, push her to the ground, and run away.

The woman was taken to Overlake Hospital for treatment of injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

Police are now looking into whether this robbery is connected to an earlier incident that same day. In that case, suspects with a similar description reportedly threatened a group of teens with a gun near the 400 block of Bellevue Square around 1:30 p.m.

The Bellevue Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed these incidents or has relevant information to contact law enforcement. They are also reminding community members to stay alert and report any suspicious activity immediately.

The department also shared safety tips to help residents stay safe in emergencies: prioritize personal safety over possessions, comply with a suspect’s demands if confronted, and call 911 as soon as it is safe to do so.
