Monday we ran a post on the Blockbuster in Downtown Bellevue, which will soon be closing. We got feedback from readers stating that they are interested in follow-up information on what will be taking the place of the complex where Blockbuster currently resides, on Bellevue Way & NE 10th St.

AvalonBay plans to add their third project at this location, which is projected to have 400 apartment homes, 8,000 sq ft of retail, and 685 parking spots. You can see by the attractive images that the two towers’ designs are more unique than Avalon’s other newly finished project, Avalon Meydenbauer.

The projected completion date is still undecided.

UPDATE: Here is a link Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects Webpage, giving more information on the project.

  1. The architect is Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects. The have a bit more information on their project page.

  2. A recent article in the DJC stated that this project will now have 17k sq feet of retail. They plan on breaking ground in September with completion targeted for late 2010.

I don’t know if you meant to say “third project in downtown Bellevue” because AvalonBay is a nationwide apartment builder and have other projects around the region as well. Some notable projects include AvalonBelltown near the Sculpture Park and Juanita Village in Kirkland.

  3. Yes, I meant to say third project in Downtown Bellevue…Because, well… it is the third project in Downtown Bellevue.

I’m very aware of their strong presence throughout the country!
