Capital One Café in Downtown Bellevue.
The bank that opened a two-story coffee shop on the corner of Lincoln Square South in 2018 — Verve coffee, half-price drinks for cardholders, and the Collection’s easiest place to meet someone.
Capital One Café is the oddest good coffee shop in the Bellevue Collection: a bank that opened a two-level, 8,000-square-foot café on the corner of Lincoln Square South at Bellevue Way and NE 6th, put a proper espresso bar and a Verve drip blend at the front, meeting rooms and nooks upstairs, and ATMs where the tellers would be. Anyone can walk in; cardholders pay half for the lattes. It has quietly become the Collection’s default place to meet someone before the shopping or the movie starts.
DBN covered the announcement in September 2016, when the concept was still unusual, and the March 2018 opening — the second Seattle-area café after South Lake Union. The coffee partner has changed since (Peet’s at opening, Verve now), the perk has not, and eight years on the corner is one of the busiest morning counters on Bellevue Way.
It is a corporate café and it does not pretend otherwise; for the independent roasters downtown see our guide to downtown Bellevue coffee shops.
What to Get at Capital One Café
A real coffee bar with a short food menu; these are the orders that make it worth the stop.
Daybreaker Blend
The house drip, a Verve Coffee Roasters blend made exclusively for the Capital One cafés. The reason the coffee here is better than a bank has any right to serve.
Honey Lavender Latte
The handcrafted espresso drink the counter is known for — and, for cardholders, half price.
Matcha, Chai & Turmeric Ginger Lattes
The non-coffee side of the board; the turmeric ginger is the one regulars discover second.
Breakfast Club
Egg, cheddar, and arugula on brioche or a croissant — the morning sandwich that turns a coffee stop into breakfast.
Avocado Toast & Roasted Turkey Club
Whole-wheat avocado toast with everything-bagel seasoning, or the turkey club with cheddar and bacon — the light lunch between errands.
