On Thursday, the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue and Kemper Development Co. held an event to celebrate the topping off of the hotel’s second guest room tower. The event was held in the new 18,000 sq ft grand ballroom, which when compete will be the largest hotel ballroom on the Eastside, and one of the largest in the Puget Sound.  When the new ballrooms are complete, along with those that currently exist, there will be a total of more than 60,000 sq ft!
The topping off event featured Kemper Freeman Jr. of the speakers.  He spent time talking about how although we are going through a very tough economical time, the Puget Sound is holding up the best out of any other area in the country. As a tradition, Kemper has his buildings blessed by a pastor before occupied.  Yesterday, a local pastor gave a short prayer during the event to help ensure the building endures all forms of success.
The project is on track to open in July 2009, doubling the total number of hotel rooms to 733. The construction will also bring 500 new underground parking spaces, as well as 1,000 sq ft of retail space.
