Bush’s visit to Bellevue on Monday brought demonstrators, road closures, and secret service snipers. Stuff the city isn’t typically used to on a Monday afternoon.
A passionate, yet smaller than expected group of protesters petitioned the Bush administration outside of the Hyatt hotel. A day prior to Bush’s arrival, lead protesters estimated that close to a 1,000 protesters would show up. The estimates were short by a mile. Only about 400 protesters showed up.
The President’s time on the ground after arriving at Sea-Tac international airport was just over two hours. He gave a 23 minute speech to the people whom donated $1,000. And those to donate $10,000 were able to take a picture with the president as well.
Bellevue can now return to regularly scheduled business.
