Blazing Bagels has closed all of its locations, including its Bellevue shop, located at 10812 Main Street.
According to reports from KING 5, employees received an email on March 12 stating that the closures were the result of bankruptcy.
The company had operated multiple locations across the region, including in Seattle’s SODO and University District neighborhoods, as well as in Redmond and Bellevue.
Blazing Bagels was founded in 2001 by Dennis Ballen, who opened the first location in Redmond. Over the following two decades, the business expanded to several locations throughout the Eastside and Seattle, including Bellevue, Issaquah, Ravenna, and SODO.
In 2025, ownership of the company transitioned to Ballen’s daughters, Whitney Ballen and Jenna Wickersheim, after his retirement. Later that year, the company reduced its menu offerings and scaled back wholesale operations in December.
Blazing Bagels had previously outlined plans to expand further across the Pacific Northwest. However, those plans were not realized, with the company citing “unforeseen circumstances” before its closure.
The business had been operating in the region for more than two decades.
