David Barton Gym is the newest announcement of The Bravern Project. This fitness gym is acclaimed for being a world renowned personal training facility, with cutting edge interiors. Barton’s famous promise to his customers is to “make you look better naked.”

The Gym will occupy 37,000 square feet, which will include a strength training floor, Yoga studio, space for cardio equipment, and an area for group training classes.

Currently David Barton Gym is located in five locations on the East Coast within Chicago, Miami, and New York City. The Downtown Bellevue gym will be the first on the West Coast.

Barton alluded that the mix of high end luxury retail combined with Microsoft moving into the two office towers will make a great location for the gym. In a recent press release, Barton was quoted saying , “My new gym will be so inspiring that even techies will start looking like their fantasy characters.”

The Bravern project, along with the gym, is slated for opening in 2009.

  1. Why doesn’t ProClub move to Bellevue as well? That new location they opened up the the Redmond boonies seems like a bad plan.

  2. Is that place really a gym? Their website makes it look more like a fashion runway. It doesn’t appeal to me on a fitness level in the least.

  3. Wow, looks very posh…..I wonder what the monthly rates are going to be like. Equinox, another upscale gym, is opening at the 1 Hotel in Seattle and I heard the rates there are going to be outrageous. This one might have it beat though judging from the website.

  4. Yeah, looks like nothing Bellevue has seen as of yet…but I’m starting to think we are going to see a lot more like this, we’ll see how the city reacts when it starts coming to life.

  5. David Barton Gym is mostly focused on personal training. The monthly dues aren’t that bad at all. Nowhere near a Washington Athletic Club or Bellevue Club.

  6. I’ll stick with LA Fitness and the $30 a month…

  7. Those who made the comments about the Pro Club in Bellevue are right.

With all the Microsoft Members, that are currently in Bellevue, and will be when the Bravern is complete. The company should have a satellite location in Bellevue.

  8. Here’s what the Chicago DBG rates are:
$250 to enroll and $95/month for a one year membership. All classes are included, Yoga, Pilates, Group Training and Spin.
    Perks are that it’s open 365 5am-midnight M-F, Sat and Sun 6-9pm.

  9. Thanks “Anonymous” for getting the rate information!!! That is great info.

For those of you who post under anonymous, you know that you can post without your email or Signup information by clicking the “Name/URL” button?

I’d be nice to know who is involved in posting most often! (Thanks to those of you who do give feedback…it’s much appreciated!

  10. Oh great, now the boring, ancient Plastics that inhabit the new “improved” downtown Bellevue can “look good naked”! Huzzah! When will the blatent worship of materialism and appearance end in what used to be the Seattle of Scando-Japanese Reserve?

  11. Will the David Barton provide competition to the current athletic facilities in Bellevue? A friend said the DB in New York was amazing;catering to the young hipsters!

  12. I would love to join DB if I had the income, but I think personal training is personal training. Paying hundreds more for a personal trainer at one gym versus another, isn’t going to get you any skinner. I’ll stick to 24 hour fitness!

  13. It’s great that something else will be opening up. Since Epicenter closed LA fitness has been an absolute zoo after work I’ve been looking into alternatives in Bellevue, Redmond, & Mercer Island and they’re ALL more expensive (including the YMCA)for fewer amenities. I’m so fed up with LA fitness being crowded that I’m just about ready to pay 3 times the cost for another gym in downtown if I could actually get in to use it. Thanks to the poster who listed the DavidBarton gym’s chicago rates. That’s tons better than The Bellevue Club prices.

  14. Yeah, I’d have to agree, LA Fitness is starting to become a joke, there are too many people there…

There is such an opportunity for a $50/month for a very nice fitness club to open. I’d like something a step up from LA Fitness, but not as nice (such a large investment) as the Bellevue Club.

  15. I used to work out at DB when I lived in New York. The place is a joke. If you want real training without all the L.A. runway look, I would endorse checking out Elite Fitness Training on Main St in Bellevue. These guys know how to give an amazing workout in 60 minutes. Alex Wasserman and his crew were voted Best personal trainers in the entire Seattle area on citysearch.com!

  16. I’m a DBG member in Chicago and LOVE it! Yes it does feel a little bit like a club, but honestly it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a gym. The trainers are only the BEST and highly qualified and that’s their main focus is personal training. I absolutely love it and think it will be a good fit in Bellevue…..knowing the city very well since I grew up there.

  17. i work out in the dbg in south beach and it’s amazing im excited about them putting one up in washington as a i plan on moving there….

  18. You should check out Sound Mind & Body Gym in Seattle ! The people are very cool. They actually smile and say hello. Very classy gym w/o the expensive price (around $50-60 month). The Gym is not as crowded because they don't offer everyone and their brother a free pass, so paying members get to use the facility.

  19. I went in to their sales office yesterday which just opened. They are currently offering no enrollment fee and 70 per month that you can cancel within 10 days of opening day. All classes are free, they include unlimited towel service, coat check, one personal training session and guest passes. If you refer someone to join they will give you a free month of membership.

My wife and I signed up on the spot.

  20. 24 Hour Fitness rocks!!

  21. I work at the new DavidBartonGym in Bellevue. Feel free to give me a call with any questions, or even if you just want to know the current rate spacial. My name is Dane. 425.269.0410 or [email protected]

  22. i had joined because my boyfriend was an employee there and once they fired him… (for reasons unrelated to his actual job) he had moved to Hawaii. he now surfs on tour and I really had no desire to keep my memberships that i had paid for and have been trying for 3 months to cancel and i still have no recieved a single call about it nor a refund in my acct. To make matters worse they had seen from his paperwork that i had referred countless people who had joined i had at least 10 months free on my account and had taken the liberty to have someone that i have never spoke with to call me about referring more people. The guy called me more then once after i had called back i told the just exactly why i was canceling and that i did not appreciate phone calls from some random employee that i neither knew about or wanted to hear from.

  23. When is it opening?

  24. Get this ! I called Barton Gynm in Bellevue today and asked if they were going to have a swimming pool facility.
Neither of the two people who I spoke with would answer the question. They’re about to open and they don’t know whether they have a pool. Do you think they’ll have towels?

  25. I was recently stopped in the Dave Barton Gym office on 106th and learned that the enrollment fee is $500 and it’s $120/month. They may offer discounts if you are employed at the Bravern.

  26. Haha what a joke right? its like they are employing a bunch of gym rats and kids with GED’s

  27. I joined the Bellevue David Barton Gym and quit after one week. If you love loud synthesized music with a booming disco beat in every room, including the locker room, it might be the place for you. They think the music is hip and sophisticated. I think it is cheesy and intrusive. Sorry DBG.

  28. The gym is awesome but for God sakes the MUSIC IS TOO LOUD…turn it down a little, is not the type of music that everyone would like, allow people the option to listen to their own Ipods.

    Thanks,

    DBG member
