The Bellevue Arts Museum has been awarded a $478,492 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, or IMLS, which is a federal government grant.

The money will go towards the museum exhibitions and educational programs between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009.

IMLS is the main source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums across the country, with the goal to to sustain heritage, culture and knowledge, enhance learning and innovation, and support professional development. Many members of the community, including Senators Patty Murry, Maria Cantwell, and Dave Reichert, took action and wrote letters to their representatives in support of the grant.
