This week, the Neiman Marcus sign was put up at The Bravern. The sign is another indicator of the progress of The Bravern project, which includes 2 office towers, 2 condo towers, and a European-inspired shopping experience.

Neiman Marcus is scheduled to open in September 2009.

  1. woohoo!

  2. What goes up can come down. I worry about The Braven: will Microsoft and all these high end retailer stick with it?

  3. Realistically these business will probably be cash losers in the short term. But the economy is cyclical and once the Bravern is built, it is in a great location long term. If you’ve been in bellevue long enough, you can remember the growth spurts and collapses every 10 years or so. Be patient and hang onto your job if possible. Things will get better.

  4. Spoken like an idealist. You assume that it will all “come back up” and that there will be another “up cycle”. Did you ever think that perhaps our nation’s financial position is so well gone now, that there WON’T be a traditional recovery? When the Fed is printing trillions of dollars that we don’t have in imaginary money to bail out everybody in sight, chances are the dollar won’t be worth a plum nickel in three years time. Welcome to the Jungle, 30 years of crap taught in the schools has produced a generation with no formality, civility, and not even the basic knowledge of economics needed to survive. That is top to bottom, the entire curve from the “brightest” in society to the dumbest. Try keeping up with China and India where their kids are learning advanced calculus and engineering and your kids are learning about socio-eco racial tolerance and other garbage. You can’t. The economy is gone.

  5. Oh please, international economies have been hit harder than the US by this crisis. Read a history book and stop listening to Rush.

  6. “Socio-eco racial tolerance and other garbage”?

    1) We’re failing because we’re just not doing enough of math and sciences, not because we’re doing too much of literature, humanities, and history.(2) And it’s this socio-eco racial tolerance and other garbage that’s going to ensure your/our kids’ future i.e. freedom, equality, justice, the pursuit of health and happiness, and all the other “garbage” from our Constitution.

(Sorry if there are typos. I’m just not learned).

  7. I wonder how they’ll open during these times–I know Louis Vuitton just pulled out of opening a store in Tokyo.
