Open for just under a year, Amazon Grill in Downtown Bellevue at 530 112th Ave NE has closed for business.  A piece of paper on the restaurant door states “Restaurant closed until further notice.” A peek inside the restaurant shows many of the lights still on, and all the furniture still in place.

  1. I had no idea what kind of food they served – judging from the outside appearance, I always assumed it was sort of a sad Rainforest Cafe wannabe. They were in a weird location, and the building itself just felt kind of depressing. Not surprised at all. Maybe they had great food, I have no idea, but they needed a different image and more exposure. I have never heard anybody even acknowledge its existence before this blog post.

  2. I’m sad to see Amazon Grill close. It served excellent Brazilian food with a classic Brazilian restaurant theme. It was/is under the same ownership as Ipanema in downtown Seattle (which also closed recently, dammit). Bellevue needs more authentic, original, NON-Cheesecake Factory like restaurants and this was one of the few that offered something of quality. I fully agree on the bad location….and they didn’t seem to do any marketing whatsoever. To all restauranteurs thinking of bringing your business to Bellevue; more places like Cantinetta….less Munch Bar and Blue Martini. Seriously.

  3. A very poor location for a restaurant. I pass through the road next to it many times, and if it weren’t for the blog post here I would have never noticed it.

  4. My Husband, his family, and I all went there last Sept for his birthday. The meat they served table side was really good, but the rest of the food lacked any flavor. Its served buffet style which seems cheap for the cost per person you have to pay. We never went back ( even though we live in downtown bell). It just wasn’t that impressive and I never heard anyone talking about it either.

Didn’t that location used to be a CoCo’s?

For me the location was always terrible, being a bad location to walk to, and too close to justify getting in my car.

  6. I didn’t even know this place opened and closed. Looking at everyone’s thoughts and comments of this being a bad location, maybe the next leasees will do something positive! A well known and respected established venue may be the best fit here?

  7. for those who are not sure what amazon grill served: they were a rodizio style restaurant that served meats buffet style with a prixe fix menu. instead of you going to a buffet island to get the meats, you have servers come around to your table and carve the meats at your plate. there was also a salad bar which had a buffet island to self serve. they also had a regular ala carte menu to order from. sad to see them closed but the location was not ideal. im sure if they had a spot in the prime downtown area, they’d be booming in business!
