The Bellevue Collection’s top chefs are going to be competing to raise funds at the Chef Battle: Knock Out Summer Hunger with Hopelink on Thursday, June 20th at 5 p.m. in Eques Restaurant at The Hyatt Regency Bellevue.
Chefs will compete using only ingredients from a local food bank and will be judged on what delectables they can prepare with those items.
Sponsored by Bellevue Commons, End Summer Hunger is Hopelink’s campaign that engages local businesses, organizations, schools and individuals to help provide low wage families with free or reduced-fee breakfasts and lunches during the school year.
“Food is essential. It is a building block. When families are hungry, stability is impossible,” said Marilyn Mason-Plunkett, CEO of Lifeline. She added, “We know that consistent access to nutritious food enables our low-income families to direct their limited resources toward other basic needs such as heat, transportation, and childcare, without worrying about whether their children have enough to eat,” she said. “And we know that having nutritious food and enough to eat is essential to helping kids learn, thrive and grow into healthy adults.”
The public can participate in the Chef Battle by purchasing a $75 ticket. All proceeds will benefit Hopelink’s End Summer Hunger Program. Entry includes food and beverages. Support your Bellevue community by purchasing tickets at community.hope-link.org/ChefBattle.
