If you’ve driven by Bellevue Way, you’ve likely seen fences up around the old Safeway and surrounding buildings. Scan Design recently closed their location, all which is in preparation for the Bellevue Collection mixed-use expansion. As noted earlier in May of this year the Bellevue Collection expansion will be a $1.2 billion, 2 million square foot expansion that is planned to be completed by fall 2016.
The current work is in preparation for demolition that is scheduled for January or February of 2014, according to representatives for The Bellevue Collection. The project currently has completed the administrative design review process with the City of Bellevue. The permits for the first phase of development (the garage) are currently pending approval. It’s anticipated that ground breaking for the project will begin by the end of Q2 2014.
The project will include the following highlights:
- 375,000 square feet of new retail, dining, and entertainment spaces
- 700,000 square feet of the plans are dedicated to new Class-A office space
- 250-room boutique hotel
- 500 high-end residential units
- 3,700 parking spaces in two 6-level underground parking garages
