Bamboo Garden reopened as La Bu La in late April in the new Soma Towers development, at 288 106th Avenue NE, Suite 200, in downtown Bellevue.

Floor-to-ceiling windows brighten up the new contemporary restaurant while stone soldiers stand guard over the bar.

La Bu La translates to “spicy not spicy,” meaning the menu offers both authentic Szechuan dishes and American-Chinese fare. The special “Walk on the Wild Side” menu makes Chinese language menu items accessible to non-Chinese customers. Popular dishes include “Fire Swimming Fish,” “The Other Parts of a Pig,” and “Chong Qing Hot Chicken.”

Restaurant hours are 11-a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday, 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, and 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday. The restaurant is closed from 3-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Customers can enjoy happy hour from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
