A state-of-the-arts performing arts center for Bellevue is a step closer to reality. The Tateuchi Center Capital campaign reported new donations of $3.5 million, brining the total for 2015 to nearly $25 million. Groundbreaking for the project is planned for spring 2017. Carl and Renee Behnke recently made a $3 million pledge. Carl Behnke is a director for the project.

The performing arts center will include a 2,000-seat concert hall and a 225-seat Studio Theatre and Arts Education Studio.

The Tateuchi Center has received significant private contributions and received a $20 million commitment from the City of Belevue, as well as a $1.2 million grant from King County and 4Culture.

Executive Director and CEO, John Haynes, summarized the Tateuchi Center capital campaign by saying, “We have a lot to celebrate as 2015 draws to a close – and the year isn’t over yet!”
