We can all relate on the loss that is felt from losing a loved one. We search for those moments that are brief reminders that that person, animal, friend, family member is somehow still with us. Local author, Cindy Wong, lost her mother in 2018. Since then, as a way of keeping her near, she has told her kids that their “Po Po” is up in the stars in the sky and that they are the sea stars here on earth.
Starhug, a tale that came to Wong in a dream, is her first self-published children’s book. It is a story of healing and supporting one another through tough times. The book contains a powerful message appropriate for all readers. It encourages empathy, compassion, courage, and the power of a hug.
The book is available at Nordstrom stores nationwide. The story comes in both the form of a board book and hardcover.
Wong grew up near Bellevue, making it that much more meaningful to have her first book signing at Nordstrom Bellevue Square.
The book signing for Starhug will be taking place on Saturday, December 11th from 10:30am to 11:30am. The location is on the third floor at Nordstrom Bellevue Square.
$1 from the sale of every hardcover book sold will be donated to SMOOCH, Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital. This organization helps to raise funds and awareness for the hospital’s uncompensated care program.
