Wintergrass Music Festival, a celebration of bluegrass and acoustic music, is currently underway until February 25th at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. This four-day festival features an array of concerts, dances, workshops, and impromptu jam sessions across four stages.
The festival kicked off with registration opening at 8:30am on Thursday, exclusively for the Youth Education program participants and Intensive workshop attendees. General check-in begins at 10am, followed by an evening filled with shows starting at 5:30pm. Friday sees the start of workshops at 8:30am, with performances starting on the Grand stage around 1:00pm and on other stages after 6pm. Saturday’s schedule mirrors Friday’s, with workshops starting early and shows starting as early as 1pm. Sunday’s festivities begin at 10:30am, wrapping up by 5pm.
While Wintergrass is rooted in bluegrass, it offers a selection of different acoustic music genres, including Gypsy jazz, Celtic tunes, Americana, old-time melodies, Swedish polskas, and more. The jam sessions welcome various ages and backgrounds.
Workshops cover a range of topics appropriate for all skill levels. These hour-long sessions, included in the admission price, provide enriching learning opportunities for attendees.
The festival lineup features an array of musicians, with bands like Mighty Popular, Mr. Sun, The Fretless, Eli West, Whiskey Deaf, Under the Rocks, and more.
Tickets are still available for purchase. They range in price between $15 and $190. Kids ages 12 and under are free. For more information on the festival’s lineup and schedule, visit the website.
