Bellden Cafe and Downtown Bellevue Network have joined forces to support Porchlight, a local shelter providing vital assistance to men experiencing homelessness in Bellevue. Their collaborative efforts include a community drive to collect essential items followed by a special breakfast event that will be held on June 22nd, 2024.
Porchlight supports those in need, offering an Emergency Men’s Shelter (EMS) and Day Center. Operating 365 days a year, the facility provides a resource-rich environment where men can rebuild their lives and strive towards stable income and housing.
With amenities ranging from safe sleeping accommodations to three nutritious meals a day, showers, laundry facilities, and access to mail, haircuts, and computers, Porchlight’s low-barrier program serves as a lifeline for up to 100 men daily on the Eastside, with an annual outreach touching between 700 to 900 individuals.
Beyond basic provisions, Porchlight extends critical services such as housing and employment navigation, medical and dental care, as well as professional mental health and addiction support.
Bellden Cafe, a cherished business in the local community of Bellevue, first opened in since its establishment in 2017. Aside from its coffee and brunch fare, it is a hub of communal warmth and social responsibility. At its core lies the Bellden Community Fund, a testament to the cafe’s commitment to uplifting those in need through various community-driven initiatives, including social cause awareness and volunteer projects.
Now, Bellden Cafe and the Downtown Bellevue Network are coming together to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those served by Porchlight.
In anticipation of the breakfast event, Bellden Cafe will kick off a donation drive on May 20th. Customers are encouraged to contribute items essential for the well-being of the shelter residents, including hygiene products such as deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, as well as cleaning supplies and summer clothing like jeans and light jackets.
