An updated proposal for a mixed-use development at 995 118th Avenue SE in Bellevue has been submitted to the City of Bellevue, changing the original plan outlined in November 2022. The new plan seeks to rezone the 4.55-acre site from its initial designation as Office/Limited Business 2 (OLB2) to Neighborhood Mixed Use (NMU).
This change will allow for the development of affordable housing and a children’s museum on the property, contributing to the area’s growing need for both residential spaces and community-focused amenities.
The updated plan introduces a development that incorporates a range of residential and recreational elements. A key feature of the project will be the addition of affordable housing units. The rezone will clear the way for a higher residential density.
The proposal includes a one-story children’s museum, set to occupy the eastern portion of the site. The museum will span 14,153 square feet and will include an outdoor plaza and exhibit space totaling 8,009 square feet.
Additionally, the development will be located adjacent to an existing 6-story, 135-unit apartment building, which covers a total of 136,636 square feet.
SRM Development, the firm behind the project, purchased the property in 2021 for $32.5 million, according to King County records. The architectural design for the development is being led by Urban Architecture, a firm known for its expertise in mixed-use and community-centered projects.
