Toy’s Cafe and Bakery in Bellevue on 106th Avenue Northeast is closing at the end of this month. According to a representative at the restaurant, they are undecided as to whether they will reopen at another location.

The traditional Chinese restaurant offers Mandarin, Szechuan and Cantonese dishes. They are located in Bellevue Plaza, a complex that will be demolished as Vulcan’s mixed-use development has received the green light to begin construction on the first phase of the project. There will be three 17-story office buildings constructed that will include retail, parking and office space.

Toy’s Cafe opened at Bellevue Plaza in January 2010, after moving from its location on Main Street.

  1. It is sad to see one of the last remaining businesses from Old Bellevue close. The Hot Sour Soup is the best I have ever had. I will miss them just as much as I miss all of my friends from a business that was very close to thier original location 😉

  2. Sorry to see one of favorite restaurants disappear. Our 3 1/2 year old granddaughter will particularly miss the pot stickers…she could eat a whine order by itself. If they decide to reopen, we will be among the first customers there.

I have been a devout patron of Toys since the 60’s when they were open on Old Main Street in Bellevue. There have been 4 generations of our family that always enjoyed Sunday dinners there. Its a shame to see large corporations take over retail space and push those small, beloved local businesses out. I hope Toys can find an affordable new location to relocate and once again serve their loyal customers with great tasting dishes!
