Black Bottle in Downtown Bellevue.
The Belltown gastrotavern’s 21-plus Bellevue Way offshoot has been the neighborhood’s shared-plates room since 2011 — blasted broccoli, wine on tap, a sidewalk patio, and three hours of validated parking.
Black Bottle is the independent bar-restaurant on the stretch of Bellevue Way north of the Square — a low-lit, 21-plus gastrotavern on the ground floor of the Avalon Towers building at NE 10th, with a sidewalk patio in summer, wine on tap, and a menu that has always worked the same way: a dozen shared plates from everywhere, ordered for the table, refilled as the night goes. It is where the neighborhood’s apartment dwellers eat on a Wednesday and where a group of eight lands when nobody wants a chain.
DBN covered the announcement in January 2011, the quiet March opening as Black Bottle Postern — the Belltown original’s Eastside offshoot — and the first review that April, when the blasted broccoli was already the order; a year later the name shortened and a happy hour arrived. Fifteen years on the broccoli is still on the menu, the room is still 21 and over, and the three-hour validated parking in the building garage is still the neighborhood’s quiet advantage.
It is not a destination restaurant and it is not trying to be; it is a good, grown-up neighborhood room of the kind downtown Bellevue has too few of. Where it fits is in our guide to the best restaurants in downtown Bellevue.
What to Order at Black Bottle
Unfussy, rustic plates made to be shared; order for the table, not the person.
Broccoli Blasted
Air-blasted florets with divan aioli — the plate that has been on the menu since the 2011 opening and is still the first thing regulars order.
Malbec Beef Shank
A bone-in cross-cut shank braised five hours in malbec, over fingerlings. Order it for two and give it the table.
Kefte Lamb Meatballs Mezze Plate
Sumac hummus, olive salad, tzatziki, flatbread — the shareable that turns two plates into dinner.
Seven Spice Calamari
Shichimi, sansho, lemon, and chili oil. The bar snack that sets the tone for the rest of the order.
Dubai Chocolate
Pistachio butter, kataifi, and dark-chocolate ganache — the of-the-moment dessert on an otherwise old-school-independent menu.

Getting There & When to Go
North Bellevue Way is a short walk from the Collection and easier to park than it looks.
Getting There & Parking
- Drive: The building garage, entrance on the other side of the building off NE 10th Street; free for 3 hours with validation — scan the QR code on the menu and enter your plate. Street parking on Bellevue Way is the alternative.
- Light rail: 2 Line to Bellevue Downtown Station, then a roughly 15-minute walk west along NE 8th and north on Bellevue Way — see our light rail guide
- On foot: Two blocks north of Bellevue Square along Bellevue Way; from Lincoln Square, cross NE 8th and walk north past Bellevue Place.
Best Times to Go
Weekend nights fill by dinner and stay full; book on Resy or come early. Weeknights are the neighborhood at the bar and the easiest tables. Patio season is the draw in summer, and Snowflake Lane evenings put the whole street on foot — the room is a few blocks off the parade route and quieter for it.
Make It a Night
North Bellevue Way pairs easily with the Collection: start or finish with the best happy hours downtown if you are building a night, a shopping loop through Bellevue Square two blocks south, or Snowflake Lane in the holidays, a short walk down Bellevue Way.

Is Black Bottle Bellevue 21 and over?
Yes, the entire restaurant, all hours. It is a gastrotavern rather than a family restaurant, and the menu is built around shared plates and a long list of wines and cocktails.
Is Black Bottle Bellevue related to Black Bottle in Seattle?
