As the holiday season approaches, homes take on a special kind of energy. Autumn gives way to twinkling lights, the kitchen fills with familiar aromas, and family and friends gather in the places where they feel most at home, from Thanksgiving dinner to the last toast of the new year.

Live Beautifully, Love Local
For many Eastside families, that gathering place is the heart of the home: an open kitchen, dining area, and living room designed to bring everyone together. A generous island becomes the place to prepare a meal and share conversation. A living room centered on a fireplace invites everyone to linger. And when the holidays arrive, those same connected spaces expand naturally to welcome a larger gathering, without losing the warmth of everyday family life.
That is what it means to live beautifully: not simply having a beautiful home, but creating a home that reflects the way your family lives.

A Legacy Built Here
For more than 42 years, Lochwood-Lozier has built custom homes throughout the Eastside and Seattle, in Bellevue, Medina, Clyde Hill, Yarrow Point, Mercer Island, Kirkland, and the communities around them. Jon Lozier, who always believed in local relationships first, founded the company in 1984 and it has been passed down to the next generation twice now. That depth of local experience shapes how every home respond to its site, its neighborhood, and the family who will live there.
That legacy also lives in our people. Company President Eddie Putrya joined Lochwood-Lozier as a apprentice carpenter in 2007 and grew with the company as a foreman and project manager before stepping into leadership in 2023. “I learned this craft on our job sites, from the people who built this company,” says Eddie. “That knowledge gets passed from one generation of builders to the next, and you can see it in every home we deliver. For us, legacy means building homes families will love for decades, and being here for them long after the keys are handed over.”

A Home Designed Around Family
One Lochwood-Lozier home shows how thoughtful design-build can bring a family closer together. An open great room connects the kitchen, dining, and living areas, creating natural flow, clear sightlines, and abundant natural light and views. Carefully selected materials and architectural details add warmth and continuity, while a modern fireplace anchors the room. Because design and construction happen under one roof, every decision, from space planning and material selection to the final finish, is made with everyday family life and meaningful gatherings in mind.

Giving Back Where We Build
Loving where we live also means giving back. For decades, our team has joined Rampathon, the Master Builders Association’s annual effort to build free wheelchair ramps for Eastside families who need safer access to their homes. Each holiday season, we help Bellevue LifeSpring pack food for local families, and throughout the year we support neighborhood institutions like St. Thomas School, Summit Classical, and Eastlake High School baseball. Strong communities are built the same way strong homes are: with care, commitment, and people who show up.
Planning for the Year Ahead
As you gather with the people you love this season, take a moment to imagine the home where your family’s next chapter will unfold. On the Eastside, design and permitting alone can take many months, so the new year is the ideal time to begin. If a custom home is part of your plans, start the conversation with Lochwood-Lozier and discover what is possible in the place you call home.
