A Bellevue police officer, while directing traffic Friday night at the scene of a car fire, was hit and thrown over the hood of a 2008 Audi. The 75 year old driver is cooperating with police, and the accident did not seem to be alcohol or drug related.

NE 4th Street, at the intersection of 111th Ave NE, was closed for a good majority of the night on Friday due to the activity. The police officer after surgery, is reported to have suffered a broken leg and femur.

  1. Old people often have the reflexes of a drunk, they should be tested every two years to keep their license.

    My wife’s grandpa refuses to quit driving, even though he has caused two accidents in the last year…

  2. Exactly. People above 70 should be tested very year. How many times have we heard of accidents(both fatal and non-fatal) caused by old people who seemed to have lost control of their car(or themselves)?
