A public meeting will be held for the application to install a helistop, atop the Bellevue Place Bank of America building by Kemper Development Co. The helistop as described would add lighting, a safety net, and a ladder. The landing location would not allow for refueling. It’s anticipated that there would be a maximum of 40 landing and take-offs per month, between the hours of 8am and 7pm. The landing pad has been in place for 20 years since 1988, when the tower was built, but only taken advantage of on very few occasions.
Those opposed to the application are worried about the noise that the helicopters would create, as well as the risk associated with flying helicopters in urban areas with skyscrapers.
The public meeting will take place on February 18th at 6pm at Bellevue City Hall.
Wow, you know Bellevue is ballin’ when they need their own Helicopter landing pad!
I know how much noise helicopters can make and I hope they don’t allow this. It seems ridiculous for the general public to have to suffer so that small handfuls of people with more money than time don’t have to wait in traffic like the rest of us.
It’s progress. I can’t imagine that anyone buying a condo next to omne of the largest retail facilities in 3 states excpected it to stop growing and become quieter. I expect that KDC will be responsible regarding it’s use, the alternative would be to lose money.
Great, so that’s 40 more times my son with autism will have to scream from the noise.

Actually j, I don’t have a problem with his autism. He loves living in downtown bellevue. He wears noise canceling headphones when we’re out, but home’s his sanctuary and a heli buzz at 7am isn’t pleasant for anyone but more so for someone with hypersensitive hearing.
There are already news and traffic helicopters that buzz the city all the time, you probably just don’t notice them. I think a heli stop is a good idea, nothing wrong with it.
