Ne-Yo’s No-Show in Bellevue Costs Him $156,000

neyo-bellevueAccording to the Associated Press, a Maryland judge has ordered the R&B superstar Ne-Yo to pay $156,000 in damages because of his failure to appear for a New Year’s Eve concert at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue.

The largely hyped concert, Shine Like A Star 2009, got a lot of press attention by local and national media sources when Ne-Yo did not show up in Bellevue after attendees at the event paid $75 – $1,275 per ticket to see him.

Local promoter Kenyohn Clark sued Ne-Yo (real name Shaffer Smith) and promoter Mike Esterman. The Maryland judge ruled in favor of Clark who claimed that Ne-Yo’s promoter misled him and failed to return a $95,000 deposit.
