Pop star, and Grammy winner Ne-Yo was absent from the WET Entertainment’s production of Shine Like A Star 2009 New Years Eve Party Wednesday night. Tickets and promoters failed to bring what was promised: a live Ne-Yo performance at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue to ring in the New Year.

Around 11:30pm the announcement was made at the event that Ne-Yo would not show up.

Prices of admission started at $75, and ran up to $1275 for a six-person VIP table. Guests of the event are angered and feel taken advantage of. One person that wrote in stated, “Not only did Ne-Yo not show up, this party was poorly planned. I should be offered a refund.”

It was reported that there were only several hundred people at the event, which came nowhere close to filling the 3,000 person capacity venue.

  1. awesome!!

  2. Feel terrible for all my fellow Bellevuians (or is it Bellevuites…have we figured this out yet?) that were disappointed.

Did anyone get refunds? Who the promoter local to Bellevue? Hmm…any next steps?

    Keep us posted Michael.

    Quite disappointing!

All the best to everyone in 2009,
    Vik Duggal

  3. I had a feeling it was too good to be true. Why would Ne-Yo be performing at Meydenbauer of all places on NYE??

  4. We made it to the “party” last night. To start with, at 11pm there were probably 200-300 people in the room, staring at each other and wondering if they were at the right place. The stage was setup for like a school performance – SO UNPROFESSIONAL. Then the announcement came – Ne-Yo no show. The whole thing was SUCH A JOKE and SO DISAPPOINTING. A refund with apologies for a wasted evening is the least WET Entertainment can do! (Anyone pointers to their website or contact details – it’s not trivial finding them online…hmm)

  5. This was a disappointment but in all reality Ne-yo was never gonna show. This was a simple ploy to get ticket sales. Getting in contact with WET entertainment will not get you any kind of refund. By purchasing the tickets you agreed to their terms which cover them in the event of a “no show”.

  6. another possibility: this event was annouced very late. that didn’t give them much time to market and sell tickets. ne-yo took a look at the expected weak turnout and decided he didn’t want any part of this. didn’t want his name associated with an event underneath his ‘level’. (might have even been getting a cut of tix sales and felt this wasn’t worth his time)

the guy was just nominated for 6 grammys. on his website blog he says he doesn’t feel he gets enough recognition or attention from the media. so there’s a bit of an ego thing with him as well. perhaps his ego vetoed any agreement WET had with his manager and thus the no-show.

  7. Ne-Yo had no intention of coming to Bellevue, WA. He performed in New York for the New Years Performance. If you go online and look at Ne-Yo Tour dates, the New York performance was listed and not the Bellevue New Years Performance. KUBE 93 did a poor job of not notifying the ticket holders that he was not going to appear.

False and misleading advertising, all ticket holders should get a refund since the promoter did not deliver on the promise of his performance.

Any one have details of getting a refund, please forward information. Club zone says a refund will be given if the promoter authorizes it.

How do we get a hold of the promoter?

  8. Neyo was on TV performing in Hollywood and sang 3 songs he was not stuck in nigeria

  9. The tv-performance was pre-recoreded, so it is conceivable the guy was in nigeria…Yeah right, who am I kidding. I want a refund.

  10. Ne yo was in Nigeria. I rode on the same plane he was on. The plane had a big delayed leaving Nigeria. When we arrived in the US, everyone had to go through customs and get their baggage. There was no way he could have performed in two places while still in the air. Granted, since i hear the population at the party was poor, he probably did the smart thing and flew right to the Ryan Seacrest event. Give the man a break. the flight was long and he was tired, but on the other hand, you should get your money back….

  11. Never heard of him…. good luck getting your money back.

  12. Never heard of him…. good luck getting your money back.

  13. What was your flight number?

  14. this is comical, you were on Ne-Yo’s flight from Nigeria??? hahaha. Yeah, and I dated Gisele between Leo and TomTom.

Kube 93 and Kiss throw the most over-hyped, awful parties in Seattle.

Ne-Yo would not have saved a bad party at Meydenbauer. You should only hate yourself for getting swindled into paying $100 for a holiday that is better spent at home.

    Cheers, 09′

  15. It is true about the flight, I was told that he was delayed and could not reach the airport until midnight from Africa, which was too late to show up. He really was supposed to be in Bellevue. The promoter just did a poor job on planning it since he is such a newbie in the industry. He did show up to the “party”, if he knew that ne-yo wouldnt have been there.. think about it, why would he show up to a riot? It just didnt work out.

  16. I keep trying to call Kube93 and am getting no answer. There was no disclaimer on the poster they had on their website. It stated Ne-yo LIVE. We paid for a live performance, if they can’t deliver than they need to pay reimburse people’s money.

  17. WET, Clubzone, KUBE93 and or the Maydenbauer should all pitch in and refund every person’s money. The event was horrible. Like everyone is saying, none of us got what we paid for. In addition to Ne-Yo not showing, the event was a flop! We all could have went to our local bar for free and had 10x the amount of fun that we had at this event. If anyone has any info in regards what you have heard about getting a refund-please post everything you know.

Just remember…someone is still making money off this event. There is funds-refunding is the least they can do.

  18. I found this on Club Zone’s website:

If you would like to request a refund please fill out the following form. We will contact the promoter of the event, and with their approval, provide you with a refund.

    http://www.clubzone.com/refund

  19. If neyo was gonna be late so it be that he be late…we paid for a LIVE performance…

  20. wet entertainment is NOT a reputable Seattle area promoter. the flyer says “master of countdown ceremonies” or something of that nature. i’m pretty sure the promoter covered his ass and i also have information from people working with the promoter and other artists that neyo was NEVER coming to this event. sorry to everybody but next time look up the promoter’s information before you spend good money. there are only a handfull of REAL promoters in seattle for this genre of music and WET is not one of them.

  21. went to the damn party..no neyo.should of known better.but on january 2, 2009.tell me why after kube played a neyo song.eric powers came on air and said “man did u see him at the meydenbauer?he tore it up!” still lying about this damn party!

  22. Hey Everyone, they never booked Ne-Yo; he was scheduled to perform with Fergie somewhere else. They purposely scammed us, knowing they’d make a killing and no one could do anything about it. The promoter was Wet Entertainment, but I can tell you they are shady. Do you remember standing in line to get a wrist band? They took our ticket stubs so we wouldn’t have proof we bought tickets! I emailed a contact I found online to ask for a refund, but I highly doubt anything will come of it. I think we should all collaborate and legally pursue Kube 93 (who by the way recently said Ne-Yo actually performed!)and Wet Entertainment. We could also contact the Attorney General.

  23. smarter than these suckers

Are you guys dumb or what?! What makes people of Seattle/Bellevue think that Ne-Yo is going to pick the Bellevue Meydenbauer Center, which seats 3000 people, to perform fo NYE?! This guy is a Grammy award, stadium-size venue performer people!!! On top of that, the promoter was called “Wet Entertainment”….couldn’t you tell from the name that they were fly-by-night? Go ahead, check their website….down…..call the promoter’s number….down. Talk about a bunch of morons….I thought people in Seattle were supposed to well educated?

  24. I am quite disappointed with this whole fiasco. I had stole some of my grandmothers savings to buy a vip table for me and my bros. There we were, collars popped, dom p popped, waiting for the club to pop and get our photo opportunity with nelly and he was no where to be found. Needless to say our dates left us. So we went back to the loft and had what one may call a night of bromance. thanks a lot “wet” entertainment. If it wasn’t for that last part we would sue.

  25. I never heard of Yo-Yo before.. who is she?

  26. LOL!!

A classic Bellevue “VIP” party! I can’t stop laughing. Do us all a favor and plan your next concert for Seattle, where things actually happen as advertised.

I hear U2 is going to play Meydenbauer next week!! Can’t wait. LOL

  27. The Meydenbauer is not to blame for this. They just offer a venue.

  28. To file a complaint at the Attorney General’s Office as King 5 Suggested go here:

    https://fortress.wa.gov/atg/formhandler/ago/ComplaintForm.aspx

  29. For all those who are making fun of the education of those who attended this event are clearly in the wrong as well.

The event was advertised on Kube 93.3 and Clubzone which are both legitimate companies, and the ticket prices could justify the low capacity of venue.

When speaking to the police their recommendation was to call your credit card company and filing a claim with them.

For those who say the “disclaimer” on the ticket would bar recovery, should also rethink that accusation. Because if a company full knowingly sold tickets with the knowledge Ne-Yo would not perform then that is fraud… a disclaimer isn’t a magic wand that releases all liability, especially if the other party was unjustly enriched (which they were)…

So for all those bloggers who continue to make fun of those who bought tickets, shame on you! The real fault and blame should be on the dishonest people promoting this event and not those who were scammed: GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!

  30. FYI I was able to get a refund by disputing the charge on my card. I’m using Bank of America and the refund took about 3 days.
