The King County Library System Foundation will be holding their premier fundraising event, the Literary Lions Gala, on March 10 at the Hyatt Regency. The event raises money to support literacy and learning programs at the library system’s 49 libraries.

The gala will feature 17 authors, food, wine, and opportunities to purchase books and tickets to several exclusive author salons. Most notably, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, the league’s only six-time MVP and a six-time NBA champion, will be headlining for the Foundation’s 25th annual Gala.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar spent 50 years as an athlete, and is now a best-selling author, with his main interests being in writing and politics. He has written 12 books, including; “Becoming Kareem”, “Coach Wooden and Me”, and “Stealing the Game”. Kareem will discuss libraries, books and basketball at the event.

The Literary Lions Gala will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10. Tickets are $250 each, and VIP tickets, which include a pre-gala reception with the authors, will cost $350 each.
