Barrio Luchador is one of seven concepts in Lincoln South Food Hall that opened in January 2018. Unique in its design, Mexico’s al pastor tacos and other street food are served out of an airstream trailer.
According to Jeffrey Frederick, concept creator and partner in the LSFH project, “The idea of the airstream trailer came about for several reasons. Primarily, because I love unique and jarring design and thought a 1968 (the year I was born) airstream would be cool. Second, I’m a fan of Grey’s Anatomy and loved Derek Shepperd’s airstream in the show. I thought it would be fun and interesting to convert an airstream shell into a working taco kitchen.” Jeffrey and his partners had a local Seattle artist, Hannah Olson, paint a luchador mask on the airstream trailer, in order to complete the vision.
Breakfast tacos and burritos are offered until 11:00 a.m., when their full taco menu becomes available. Fan favorites have fast become the traditional Al Pastor taco with roasted pineapple and pork, and the Cabeza tender beef cheeks. There are sides and snacks to enjoy like their Street Style Shrimp Cocktail, Ancho Chips and Guacamole, and a salsa bar that comes with purchase. Barrio Luchador also has margaritas, beers, and soft drinks like Mexican coca-cola.
Street tacos range in price from around $3 to $6.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered daily. Please visit their website for more information on their menu, as well as restaurant hours.
