The Zumper Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in June 2021 across 12 metro cities. The report showed which cities had the most and least expensive rent, and which had the fastest growing. The median rent for a one bedroom in Washington was $1,353 for the month of June.

Bellevue was the most expensive city with a one bedroom priced at $2,010. Redmond, which had ranked as the most expensive rent in May 2021, came in second with rent at $1,950. Kirkland was third at $1,850.

The least expensive cities were Bellingham, Everett, and Burien. The most affordable rent for a one bedroom was priced at $1,210.

The fastest growing rent across the 12 metro cities that were analyzed, were Tacoma and Olympia, both up 15.3% since this time last year, Renton, and Redmond. The largest declines were seen in Seattle, which was down 11.7% and experienced the largest year-over-year decline, Kirkland, and Burien.

The average rent in Bellevue for a two bedroom was $2,240, which saw a 14.8% decline in comparison to last year.

Listings on Zumper are aggregated by city to calculate median asking rents.
