Established in 1974, the Bellevue Downtown Association (BDA) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to enhancing the economic and cultural vitality of Downtown Bellevue.
The scarcity of childcare options, particularly for children aged 0-5, poses a significant challenge for working parents. According to recent data, there are fewer licensed childcare providers today than a decade ago, and the cost of childcare has risen substantially. In King County, the median monthly cost for infant care in a childcare center surpasses $2,000, representing a substantial portion of the median income.
The BDA recognizes the pressing need to address these issues and aims to stimulate a conversation on the current state of childcare concerning workforce demands.
By raising awareness about the impact of childcare gaps, the BDA hopes to empower public and private sector leaders to make informed decisions that support working parents and their children.
This event provides a platform for dialogue and collaboration, seeking solutions to create better conditions for families and foster a thriving workforce in Downtown Bellevue.
