OpenAI has confirmed the establishment of a new office in Bellevue. An employee verified this development, although specific details about the exact location remain undisclosed for security reasons. This expansion highlights OpenAI’s growing footprint in the Pacific Northwest.
Strategic Location and Partnership with Microsoft
The Bellevue office is strategically located near Microsoft, with which OpenAI has a significant partnership. This collaboration began in 2019, when Microsoft invested $1 billion in OpenAI, followed by an additional $10 billion, as announced by Microsoft. As a result of this partnership, the tech company holds a 49% ownership stake in OpenAI, and both organizations have worked together to incorporate OpenAI technologies into various Microsoft products.
In July 2024, AllSides Technologies reported that OpenAI was seeking office space in Bellevue that would allow for future growth, underscoring the region’s emerging importance in the AI sector.
OpenAI’s Global Office Network
In addition to the Bellevue location, OpenAI maintains offices in several other cities, including San Francisco, New York City, Paris, Brussels, and Singapore. The San Francisco office remains the primary hub, with the majority of job openings concentrated there. Recently, a software engineering position was also made available in Seattle.
OpenAI announced on LinkedIn in recent months, “We’re expanding our global footprint with new offices in NYC, Seattle, Paris, Brussels, and Singapore, while continuing to strengthen operations in San Francisco, London, Dublin, and Tokyo.” They emphasized that “Our network of global offices helps us better serve and collaborate with users, customers, developers, and policymakers around the world.”
