Bellevue Mayor Lynne Robinson has declared a local emergency, according to the City of Bellevue. This is following severe windstorms that struck the area on November 19-20, causing widespread power outages, extensive property damage, and dangerous debris.
In response, City of Bellevue crews are working around the clock to restore critical infrastructure and provide essential services to the community. “The magnitude of this week’s storm was historic and has required resources beyond our typical city weather response,” Mayor Robinson stated. “Our incredible crews are out there doing their best to return essential city services to fully function as quickly as possible, and we support them.”
The mayor’s declaration of a civil emergency allows the city to take extraordinary measures to protect the safety of residents and property, including the use of additional resources and services to aid in storm recovery.
This declaration also grants the city the authority to quickly contract with external service providers and access necessary supplies and equipment to support the ongoing recovery efforts, including clearing roads and restoring essential infrastructure.
The city is providing regular updates on the progress of storm recovery and the restoration of essential city services through its website as crews work to address the aftermath of the storm.
For those still without power, are there any places offering a place to stay for people and animals?
