SuperKim Crab House

SuperKim Crab House has announced it is closing its Downtown Bellevue location. In its place, a new Thai street food restaurant, SuperKim Khao Man Gai, will open on May 28, 2025, at the base of Bellevue Towers (460 106th Avenue Northeast).

The closure was driven by challenges with the kitchen setup at the Bellevue location. According to a representative for the business, the restaurant’s all-electric kitchen made it difficult to consistently prepare the SuperKim Crab House menu. Cooking times were significantly longer compared to gas-powered equipment, and the staff had issues maintaining proper heat levels.

“Even though most guests couldn’t tell, SuperKim could feel the difference — and it just didn’t sit right,” the representative stated.

SuperKim Crab House opened in Bellevue in December 2024 and was known for its Thai-inspired seafood boils and award-winning clam chowder. It was the first restaurant of its kind on the Eastside. The business continues to operate another location in Seattle.

The new concept, SuperKim Khao Man Gai, will focus on a single dish: Khao Man Gai — a popular Thai street food made with poached chicken, seasoned rice, and a gingery dipping sauce. The recipe draws inspiration from SuperKim’s upbringing in Bangkok, where his aunt ran a well-known Khao Man Gai stall near a university.

The restaurant shift marks a return to the chef’s roots. According to the team, the new menu will be simpler and better suited for the existing kitchen infrastructure, ensuring consistency and authenticity in execution.

SuperKim Khao Man Gai will open to the public on May 28, 2025.
