Salesforce plans to permanently lay off 59 employees at its Bellevue and Seattle offices, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the Washington State Employment Security Department this week. Separations are expected to begin October 5, 2026.
The cuts affect employees at the 929 Office Tower in Downtown Bellevue and the company’s Data 1 building in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal. Impacted roles include executives, engineers, designers and product managers.
Salesforce employed about 3,650 people in the Puget Sound region before the layoffs, making it the region’s eighth-largest tech employer. The company has had an office at the 929 building on 108th Avenue NE since 2017, and renewed roughly 98,000 square feet there in early 2025 while trimming its overall footprint.
The layoffs come less than a year after Salesforce cut 93 Seattle-area workers last September. CEO Marc Benioff has said AI now handles a growing share of the company’s work, including customer support, where headcount dropped from about 9,000 to 5,000 as AI agents took over more cases.
The San Francisco-based software company, which acquired Seattle-based Tableau for $15.7 billion in 2019, also cut 74 employees at its headquarters this week and promoted Miguel Milano to chief operating officer. Salesforce reported $11.1 billion in revenue for the quarter ended April 30, up 13% year over year.
Despite the cuts, the company recently renewed a roughly 114,000-square-foot lease at the Data 1 building, according to GeekWire.
Last week Visa also announced layoffs in their Bellevue office at the 929 Office Tower.
