West Elm opened on Main Street in October of 2016. They are known for their combination of modern furniture and home decor, affordability and community. With over 90% of their products designed in-house, there has been a steady increase in their selection of organic, sustainably sourced and Fair Trade Certified products.
The furniture and home decor store provides design services in-store and in-home. This complimentary service begins with an initial appointment in-store for a consultation and then continues with assistance choosing furniture both in-store and online, if necessary. After the first appointment, a design consultant can come to your home and help with measuring, determining layout and ordering furniture. West Elm also offers installation services starting at $129 to hang curtains, paint a room, mount your tv and more.
We recently went through this process as we needed to finally fill our living room with furniture. The initial appointment consisted of going around the store so that the design consultant could get a feel for our style, choosing different pieces that we wanted in our home and hearing her recommendations. From there, we described the shape and approximate measurements of the room and were able to place pictures of the furniture and home decor that we had chosen onto a spreadsheet. We were also able to customize the fabric and color of the furniture online with our designer. The recommendations from our consultant were so helpful as we needed fabrics that can easily be cleaned (2 kids under the age of 5) and a cat who loves to scratch furniture! We went home with a spreadsheet that included all of the decor and furniture we had chosen, and placement of where it would be in our living room. The design consultant followed up with us over email and phone. She ordered the furniture for us and arranged delivery. We did not use the complimentary in-home design service, but definitely recommend it if you find yourself needing further assistance.
