A developer recently purchased the downtown Bellevue site where Taco Time is located for more than $7 million.

The 25,025-square-foot property, located at 201 106th Ave. NE, houses Taco Time and a dry cleaner, although the site is zoned for a 20-story mixed-use project. The developer is with an investment fund based in northeast China, according to the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce.

A Windermere Real Estate broker who is working with the developer said he plans to build apartments and retail on the downtown site, according to the article. The developer reportedly has family in the Seattle area and is working with MulvannyG2 Architecture of Bellevue.

The redevelopment permit process is expected to take 12 to 18 months.

  1. I am aware of this sale personally, I was made aware that this price was more $7.5 million, but at this caliber, who counting a mere half a million right?

  2. Poor Taco Time. Another fast food joint will bite the dust.

  3. @Justin: I’m hoping they find a place to relocate. Maybe in one of the vacant stores on the Bellevue Way NE and NE 12th Street strip mall.

  4. All this talk has me craving a crisp bean burrito. Maybe they will build around it…?

  5. oh no! taco time is my go-to fast food place. i will miss it!

  6. More apartments and how about another frozen yogurt shop! Just what we need!

  7. I hope they relocate Taco Time…and it’s the nicest location around. Bummer.

  8. Nice to see the continual growth of downtown Bellevue. Love those condos.

  9. Perhaps they could move to the site of the old KFC on Bellevue Way and Main 🙂

  10. The old site of KFC/Taco bell was already bought 2years ago. They were going to build condos/apartments with retail too, but then the economy hit and now it just sits there empty and getto. Makes Bellevue look like Renton.

  11. It’s great and about time more city centers are begining their transformation.
